This report is about our COFFEE & WORKSHOP HOPPING RIDE on January 29th.
Here comes part two!
Part one is here.
We made a leather cup sleeve in Higashimukoujima and had a hamburger for lunch in Kuramae.
Now, we go to Kiyosumishirakawa.
By the way, we are running a cycling tour guide. Safety first is our most important point, so we always choose smooth and easy roads as possible as we can. Please check this video. You can see our cycling route and you can understand that our route is safe because the cars doesn’t appear on the screen.
We arrived at Kiyosumishirakawa and we visited some coffee roasteries.
The first one is ARISE COFFEE ROASTERS
This roastery is so cozy-looking. We received a warm welcome at this roastery.
The owner is a very funky and gentle guy.
This roastery always have more than 10 kinds of coffee beans but he recommended Dominican beans to us on the day. This beans have strawberry flavor.
The next roastery is
They are from New Zealand and specialist of espresso.
There are few seats and counters inside the shop.
It’s very stylish display!
You can buy any beans what you like.
The last one is
This roastery established in 2012. It’s first coffee roastery in Kiyosumishirakawa.
It can say that the third wave of coffee in Japan started from this roastery.
We are sorry but we couldn’t take a photo of them. There were lots of visitors from overseas inside the store.
Anyway, we visited three coffee roasteries and bought some beans in Kiyosumishirakawa.
It’s time to coffee break at last!
We stoped at the riverside.
The participants milled the beans.
Some participants milled coffee beans for the first time. They were surprised because it was quite hard.
I want to be a guy who always help ladies.
Oh, He is a shining example. He did help lady.
Finish milling and cup sleeve bungle looks so nice!
Hot water is also ready.
Put on the leather cup sleeves on the cup.
Pour coffee into a cups equally.
Cup sleeve is very convenient because everybody easily recognize their own cup.
it’s also good for party.
The riverside was sweet with coffees.
The participants tried to drip a coffee.
Dripping a coffee has various theories. We taught them the standard style on the day.
It should pour hot water slow and little by little but they were struggle with it.
His hand was always in the pocket while dripping.
Keisuke kept boiling the water. Thanks!
They had a chit chat so long time.
Nobody knows what they are talking about. It is their secret.
Anyway, we enjoyed enough coffee. It’s time to move to Kuramae.
See, no cars here again. I told you so.
Here is the last stop of this tour. We arrived at
Let’s start Espresso & latte art workshop!!
The instructor of this workshop is Ms. Arai. She is a barista and owner of SOL’S COFFEE ROASTERY.
Everybody listened intently to her.
She told us that crema, body and aroma are important factors for espresso.
They didn’t seem understand well haha.
Seeing is believing! Let’s make a espresso!!
Put the milled beans into the porter filter, tamping, and then push the start button. It seems so easy but everyone straggle with it Because tamping is very delicate work.
Ms. Arai still kind enough taught us how to make a espresso.
Finally try to extract a espresso.
Make babbles by using the steamer, keep churning milk until about 65℃, and then make fine foam milk.
Ms. Arai also taught us how to pour the foam milk into the cup.
It was also very difficult.
Ms. Arai said that don’t think, just do it!
She is such a sadistic sergeant…
Because this is first time, of cause they failed. They seem to say Oh, No….
Everybody failed at first try.
It’s OK! Let’s develop from experience!
The foam milk is not enough, but there is a little heart in the cup!!
It’s so delicious because this espresso was made by me!
Look at these latte art.
Each latte art has their own unique personality.
We usually drink a latte in the cafe and we can see lot of latte art. Now, we can’t help respecting latte artist and barista.
At the end of this workshop, participants requested us(CHARI YA TOKYO) to try to make latte art because we always made fun of them while they are making a latte art.
Firstly, Keisuke’ turn.
It looks like a killifish..
He said that tittle is monet.
You mean Claude monet??
Ok, I just understood that it’s impressionism.
Now, my turn.
Actually I was confident in my latte art ability because I was woking in the cafe 2 years ago.
Let’s see my latte art⇩
Sorry, I was talking big…
I tried to swing the pitcher but it’s just a shaking guy.
I have to continue to practice..
Anyway, time to go back to CHARI YA TOKYO.
We completed this cycling event without any problems.
We took one more photo at last.
